Today came across a " perk up ".

Which means:

1. to become more cheerful, positive, or active, or make somebody more cheerful, positive, or active
2. to stick up, or make something stick up, especially quickly

Maybe if I wet my whistle, I'll perk up.

今天，看到这样一句话：“为什么在罗马乱穿马路会被罚款，但在纽约却不会？”（Why are pedestrians fined for jaywalking in Rome but not in New York?）

于是wiki了一下这个jaywalking, it is:

Jaywalking is an informal term used to refer to illegal or reckless pedestrian crossing of a roadway. Examples include pedestrian crossing between intersections (outside a marked crosswalk) without yielding to drivers and starting to cross a crosswalk at a signalized intersection without waiting for a "Walk" indication to be displayed. In the United States, state road rules generally follow the model Uniform Vehicle Code in requiring drivers to yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing in a crosswalk (subject to certain conditions); at other locations, crossing pedestrians are either required to yield to drivers or, under some conditions, are prohibited from crossing.

Although American road users often speak informally of a driver or pedestrian "having" the right of way in a given situation as if it were a matter of predetermined possession by right, state vehicle codes do not convey the right of way to any road user; rather, they describe conditions under which a given road user is obliged to yield the right of way to another. They indicate by implication which user has the right to the right of way (this is also known as having "priority"), but cannot assure that such user will actually enjoy the right of way, and therefore require all users to observe "due care" in the process of exercising the right of way.

你就想想看，要仅仅是那样，至于我再写一回吗。

老实交代，这个词儿呢，是我在这学期处学到的。

小菜一碟： as easy as pie

至于怎么来的，大概是pie这个东东比较好吃，也比较好咬，一口一个。所以才这样说的?

这个不是官方解释，是我自己想的。

不过，这个短语是肯定没有错的哦。而且，肯定比 a piece of cake更老道一些。

何以见得呢？

就是这个词儿，你和中国人说，一般听不明白。

事实上是，我真的中暑了。

于是，就把这个单词写下来吧。

其实，关于中暑，有以下说法：

天气热了，我想裸奔。

但是，这话又说回来，我可没有哈佛大学的那点娃厉害。一到期末就裸奔。

美名其曰：如果裸奔都不怕了，害怕期末考试么? 如果身体都解放了，思想还能受束缚么？

这话别人说了就是胡言乱语（nonsense或者bullshit或者bollocks）. 这不，前几天，清华就有两个孩子学人家，裸奔了。

这个，裸奔呀，怎么说呢？就是streaking.

汉语里边，我们说谁谁谁怕老婆，或者什么都得想那位“内人”请示的，叫妻管严。

在英文里，这词儿，是 henpecked man.

He is a henpecked man, and his wife wear the pants in the family.

上边的句子，是小鲁亲自写的。主要目的是引出另一个俗语，叫

wear the pants.穿裤子。

who wears the pants in your family?

家里谁主事啊？

这个wear the pants, 一定只能用在这样的情况下。如果说，公司里谁主事啊，得这样说：

who calls the shots in the company?

call the shots, 谁喊“打枪”啊？再进一步就是，谁看开火呀？在进一步，谁老大呀？

这个用在任何可以 make very important decision 的情况下。

也是属于俗语这一类。

于是便google之，才知道，这个的说法叫：

前几天，看到了这样一个句子叫：

THE WORLD IS AN (ONE'S) OYSTER

査了Oxford Dictionary,释义如下：

THE WORLD IS AN (ONE'S) OYSTER----there is no limit to the opportunity open to you.

世界就是你的舞台。

你的前途无量。

EG：With talent like that, the world is your oyster.

but now netizens think it also means:

a. I have money, therefore all the good things of the world are available to me.
b. I don't have money, therefore the world is my oyster and I'm going to look for the pearl.
c. I'm young and good-looking and my mama loves me, therefore even though I don't have money, all the good things of the world are available to me.

seems confusing.

but after all, you know that

Hello buddy,today comes the Dragon Boat Festival, or Duanwujie In Chinese.

Here we will look at some words which is related to this great festival.

1.端午节：Dragon Boat Festival
2.粽子： glutinous rice dumpling/
a pyramid-shaped dumpling made of glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves

glutinous rice是糯米，dumpling有布丁、饺子等意思，表示有馅的食物。

But here, I will recommend you just say duanwujie and zongzi to them.They can understand what we are talking about ,besides,it is part of our centuries-old history.
